SISYPHOS – Internet Resources on Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Classical Archaeology
The subject information guide SISYPHOS, which has been developed by the Heidelberg University Library, is of equal interest to the expert or the layman. It offers a wide range of Internet resources for the areas of Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Classical Archaeology, including subject portals, picture databases and mailing lists. The currency of the collection is guaranteed by the use of a link checker.
Each website is tested for its quality and subject relevance. Sites are also listed according to professional library standards, which includes details such as the author/publisher of a site, standardized keywords or subject descriptions, plus a brief indication of content.
Users can either search in Egyptology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies or Classical Archaeology separately or across all subjects simultaneously. Via the “Extended Search” option, searches can be narrowed. Additionally, it is possible to filter results using the menu options “Topic”, “Region” or “Source type”.
The "WWW-SearchSpace" allows fulltext-searching throughout the web resources in SISYPHOS.
