"The Institute of Classical Studies is a national and international research Institute in the languages, literature, history, art, archaeology and philosophy of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds. It is a member Institute of the University of London's School of Advanced Study which combines the advantages of a graduate school with those of a centre for postdoctoral research and scholarship in many aspects of the Humanities. The Institute, in association with the Hellenic and Roman Societies, provides an internationally renowned research library available to scholars from universities throughout the world. The Institute plays a leading role in the training of graduate students and is the social and academic centre for postgraduates both from the University of London and from other universities. It is in addition the meeting place of the main Classics organisations in the United Kingdom."
