SISYPHOS – Collection of Archaeological and Egyptological Internet Resources
The subject information guide SISYPHOS, which has been developed by the Heidelberg University Library, is of equal interest to the expert or the layman. It offers a wide range of Internet resources for the areas of Classical Archaeology, Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, including subject portals, picture databases and mailing lists. The collection is kept up-to-date by using a link checker.
Each website is tested for its quality and subject relevance. Sites are also listed according to professional library standards, which include details such as the author/publisher of a site, standardized keywords or subject descriptions, plus a brief indication of content.
Users can either search in Egyptology, Classical Archaeology or Ancient Near Eastern Studies separately or across all three subjects simultaneously. Searches can be narrowed to one of the three subjects via the "Fulltext Search" option. Additionally, it is possible to filter results using the menu options "Topic", "Region" or "Source type".
The WWW-SearchSpace "Archaeology, Egyptology, and Ancient Near Eastern Studies" allows fulltext-searching in the Archaeological, Egyptological, Ancient Near Eastern websites of SISYPHOS.
We welcome any suggestions for Internet sources that should be included.
