"The Center for Medieval Studies (CMS) encourages collegial interaction and scholarly collaborations among faculty and graduate students in all areas of medieval studies. To further these activities members of the Center may edit conference publications in the series Medieval Cultures, offer courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, organize formal colloquia and informal workshops around specific themes, facilitate graduate and undergraduate student groups, seek internal and external funding for program development and faculty and student research projects, and provide an opportunity for scholars of all disciplines and at all levels to focus intensively on historical, literary, anthropological, social, economic, religious, artistic, cultural, and methodological inquiries into the medieval period."
