Mitteilungen der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Archäologie des Mittelalters und der Neuzeit

The “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Archäologie des Mittelalters und der Neuzeit e.V.” was founded in 2001 and derived from the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Archäologie des Mittelalters und der Neuzeit" founded in 1975. The Deutsche Gesellschaft’s aim is to encourage the exchange of information amongst its members in areas of research, funding and communication, and to support its scholars to maintain their contact to relevant national and international associations. Annual meetings, occasional special meetings as well as the Mitteilungsblatt are committed to facilitate these aims. The association presently holds around 390 members active in archaeological research on medieval and early modern history. They work at universities, in the field of cultural monument preservation, at museums or as freelance archaeologists, also in neighbouring countries.

The Mitteilungsblätter publish talks, reports on archaeological conferences and working groups as well as book reviews and more. They appear once a year, parallel to the annual meetings.

The Mitteilungsblätter are accessible free of charge and in open access via Propylaeum-ejournals. The reviews have additionally been added to recensio.antiquitatis where they are linked to the reviewed text and are full text searchable alongside other classical reviews. The PDF-files and the full text can be accessed directly through the ejournal.
