Overview of the Delivery Services Provided by the Operating Libraries

Interlibrary Loan

Besides the interlibrary loan service via the SWB portal orders concerning the collections of Heidelberg University Library can also be placed via the Heidelberg OPAC HEIDI. For orders concerning the collections of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek use Gateway Bayern or go directly to the OPAC of the BSB..

If the requested title is not part of the collection of either UB Heidelberg or Bayerische Staatsbibliothek we recommend that you place an order via your nearest public library. The book or essay will then be delivered there from another library.
Should there be no record in any German library the title can be obtained by your local library via “international interlibrary loan.” In this case Bayerische Staatsbibliothek is willing to help with loan requests, acquisitions and financing if necessary.

You can send us your acquisition request. We will consider it and try our best to facilitate it..

Document Delivery Service subito

For the collections of both libraries an order can also be placed via the document delivery service subito. Our document delivery service delivers documents “to your desk” if you are based in Germany, Switzerland, Austria or Liechtenstein. To be able to use this offer you have to be registered with subito. Customers from other countries are requested to place an order with their local library which should then be able to access the „subito Library Service.” Please note subito‘s information concerning different customer groups.

Available for order are essays and books published after 1900. Materials which may only be used within the confines of the library due to their format, condition or value can be made available via conventional interlibrary loan only, for use within the reading room of your university or municipal library. The document delivery service subito is fee-based. By placing an order the customer agrees to bear the incurred costs as given in the current price table and to adhere to the common copyright regulations. Please direct your questions concerning subito to doklief@bsb-muenchen.de or subito@ub.uni-heidelberg.de

Document Delivery „Old Book“
