Tag der Geschichtswissenschaft 2027 (German Historians‘ Day)
Regression – Progress
Heidelberg, 21-24 September 2027

Submission Deadline: 30 September 2026

The German Historians‘ Day, the largest conference of the German-speaking historical
profession, will take place in Heidelberg from the 21st until the 24th of September
2027. It reflects the diversity and international ties of current historical research. The
theme of the coming year is “Rückschritte - Fortschritte “ (Regression – Progress).

Alongside session proposals on this subject, it is also possible to suggest other sessions about different themes. The German Historical Scholarship Conference is a venue for discourse in which the great questions and controversies of the historical profession and our times are discussed. For this reason, we want to have sessions which deal with cross-cutting questions and debates. The Association encourages its members to make the Heidelberg Conference into a forum for current historical research across different periods, topics, and methods, thereby reflecting the breadth and diversity of current historical scholarship. We particularly welcome submissions that incorporate related disciplines, which present digital methods, and those that
extend beyond Europe.

Session proposals can be submitted right away. The deadline for the submission of
sessions is September 30, 2026. Please submit your session proposals in German or English through this form.
