Eighth Papyrus Curatorial and Conservation Meeting
Berlin, 17-18 September 2026

Deadline for submissions: 23 November 2025

The Papyrus Collection of the ÄMP (Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung SMB zu Berlin) cordially invites you to participate in the Eighth Papyrus Curatorial and Conservation Meeting! We are looking for collection-specific, controversial or forward-looking contributions on objects made of papyrus. The focus is on problem descriptions or solutions.

Our topics
• History of collections, history of conservation and objects, provenance
• Scientific analyses
• Problems in exhibitions (Pollutants, climate, light)
• Handling of objects

We are looking for specific case studies, solutions and new perspectives that will strengthen the exchange of expertise and contribute to the further development of practice in the collections.

The presentations are planned to be 20 minutes long. The language can be German or English.
If you would like to present a poster, please let us know that as well.

Please submit your abstract (max. 200 words) by Monday, 23rd November 2025, to:
papyrus-meeting@smb.spk-berlin.de

You will receive a response from us in January.
