Submission Deadline: 13 December 2026

→ zur deutschen Version

We invite contributions from across the ancient world and from all relevant disciplines, including Classical Philology, Ancient History, Philosophy, Archaeology, Theology, and Art History. Papers may engage with literary, philosophical, religious, visual, epigraphic, or material evidence, as well as with the methodological challenges of bringing Gender Studies, Human-Animal Studies, and intersectional approaches into dialogue. We particularly welcome contributions that move beyond anthropocentric and binary frameworks to examine how gender and species jointly shaped the lived, imagined, and represented relationships between humans and other animals in antiquity. The conference languages are German, English, French and Italian. The publication of the contributions is planned. Researchers at all qualification levels are invited to submit an abstract.
Please send your proposal (max. 300 words) by 13 December 2026 to irene.digioia@email.unikiel.de.
