Conceptualising Reception: Interdisciplinary Theory and Methods

Frankfurt, 14-16 November 2025
The workshop is dedicated to the theoretical and methodological dimension of the study of literary and intermedial reception phenomena. Both in Classics and Modern Languages, such phenomena are usually analysed with partly overlapping, partly conflicting concepts such as tradition, influence, or intertextuality. Bringing together theoretical and methodological approaches from Classics and Modern Languages, we will discuss the problems of identifying and describing phenomena of (literary) reception and their implications for further research.
