3D and Virtual Reality in Archaeology. New Applications and Good Practice in Teaching and Research

We are happy to finally announce the program of our upcoming conference in Bonn. The conference will take place from the 27th until the 29th of May 2026 at the Department of Classical Archaeology in the Römerstraße 164, 53117 Bonn.

The conference will start with a Keynote Lecture by Matthias Lang entitled “Beyond the Illusion: Decimation, Digital Shadows, and the Epistemology of VR in Teaching Archaeology” on Wednesday evening followed by a get together. During Thursday and Friday a broad program of lectures will be provided: In addition to insights into the results of the Virtual Worlds project, other current initiatives for the use of 3D models and virtual reality in teaching of archaeological subjects will be presented. Furthermore, workshops on the conception and implementation of learning scenarios with those digital tools will be offered. The full program as well as abstracts of the contributions  and workshops can be found below.
