Officer Disobedience in Military Organizations across Epochs and Cultures
Bonn/hybrid, 9-11 September 2026
This transdisciplinary workshop aims at establishing individual elite disobedience in military organizations (to be differentiated from collective forms of unrest such as mutinies) as a new field of historical research. Such acts are underresearched to date, but they have proven to be consequential. The workshop brings together scholars who present case studies ranging across three continents (Africa, Asia and Europe) and from antiquity to the late twentieth--century.
Registration
The space at the venue is restricted, leaving room for only a small number of additional participants. It will, however, be possible to participate online via Zoom.
